Bio

Regardless of what she is working on, Jessica Ginster fully invests herself to the people she’s serving, carrying with her a drive and devotion that is inspiring.  Her professional background in health, entrepreneurialism, and community has brought her to develop Dogwaukee, her true passion. Jessica’s goal has always been to improve the lives of people and animals, while satisfying her aim to positively affect change. Through exercise, obedience training, and trust, she not only betters the well-being of the animal, but also its owner.  Pet owners should only have to focus on one thing: their bond with their companion.

Jessica began her career working in bioinformatics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, fascinated by genetic research and how that could enhance people’s health.  Her undergraduate studies of pre-vet and later, biology and philosophy at Alverno College led her down the path of bioethics. Jessica took her career in a different direction when she moved to Taiwan with her husband Nick.  Later, they co-founded Fyxation, a bicycle company that came to be at the heart of Riverwest and part of the community. Over the years since Taiwan, Jessica honed and learned new skills that allowed her to help build the company dedicated to keeping people active and respecting our environment.

After reflecting on her aspirations of animal health, Jessica earned her Certification as a Canine Training and Behaviorist Specialist, (CCTBS) through the Animal Behavior Institute, an institution that is guided by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training, and licensed by the North Carolina Board of Community Colleges.

Jessica started a company that brings more to the table than the average dog trainer or private day care and boarding services.  Dogwaukee focuses on training animals and bettering their health. Animals are put into her comfortable home, or met at their door with the same excitement you have when you see your pet. Jessica aims to build a stronger connection between companion and owner, allowing for harmony in the home.

Jessica was the answer for our overly excited, naughty-prone, Boxer-Hound mix named Basil...
A once uncontrollable poochie is now trainable and doing great. Not only did Jessica train her while we were away on vacation but then took the time to teach our house how to meet her needs. Daily treat and praise-based work is what we do now to continue challenging Basil’s large energy. We are a family of six and felt her prices were very affordable and fair. I highly recommend Dogwaukee to anyone with a dog they feel they can’t handle alone. We are very grateful.

I found Jessica to be a skilled trainer, who gave me a lot of support and Mocha a lot of love!
A My female, one year old Bernadoodle named Mocha and I have worked with Jessica off and on since Mocha was four months old. Jessica worked with Mocha in my home, weekly at her home, and also did a 2 week board/train for me. I found Jessica to be a skilled trainer, who gave me a lot of support and Mocha a lot of love! I would not hesitate to recommend Jessica to any other dog owner.
